The couple currently live on their farm in Brignoles, southern France, which they purchased in 2021. In an October interview with Esquire, Clooney described the property as their primary home, saying the move was made with their children’s wellbeing in mind. Trump reacted angrily on Truth Social, criticizing the Clooneys and their eight-year-old twins for becoming dual U.S.-French citizens.
In his post, he mocked the couple, attacked France’s immigration policies, and criticized Clooney’s political views and film career, calling his movies “mediocre” and ending with his familiar campaign slogan. Clooney later responded in a statement to Deadline, saying: “I totally agree with the current president. We have to make America great again. We’ll start in November,” a clear reference to the upcoming U.S. midterm elections.
The exchange follows a recent Variety interview in which Clooney reflected on his past relationship with Trump, saying they were once friendly before Trump entered politics, but that “everything changed.”Clooney also criticized major TV networks for settling defamation lawsuits brought by Trump, arguing that fighting the cases could have helped protect the media and political landscape.
