Donald Trump gives White House correspondent harrowing nickname and threatens to sue her

Donald Trump has lashed out at several female journalists in recent months. Now, it’s happened again. In a post on Truth Social, the 79-year-old called the NY Times White House Correspondent, Maggie Haberman, a “maggot” and threatened to sue her. However, why he is mad at her remains a mystery.

Donald Trump is not a big fan of journalists who don’t agree with him or ask tough questions. In the last few months, several female journalists have been attacked by Trump.

For example, while on board Air Force One on February 6, Trump cut off Washington Post reporter Natalie Allison when she asked about the administration’s deportation efforts. He then insulted Allison, saying that he had “a very bad attitude.”

“Well, you’re having a hard time getting readers. The Washington Post is doing very poorly. Go ahead. You have a very bad attitude. Go ahead,” Trump said.

In December, CNN White House correspondent Kaitlan Collins was called “stupid and nasty” by Trump in the Oval Office. In February, the president criticised her for not “smiling enough.”

Now, Donald Trump has attacked another journalist, the New York Times’ White House correspondent Maggie Haberman, who has also written a biography on Trump.

On Truth Social, Trump lashed out against Haberman.

“Maggot Hagerman, just another SLEAZEBAG writer for The Failing New York Times, insists on writing false stories about me, even though she fully knows and understands that the exact opposite of anything she says is usually the truth,” Trump wrote alongside a photo of the NYT White House correspondent

“In any event, I’m thinking of adding Maggot, and some of her ‘associates,’ into my Florida based Lawsuit against The Times which, very happily, seems to be proceeding nicely,” he continued. “Thank you for your attention to this matter! President DJT.”

What actually led Trump to attack Maggie Haberman is unclear. But looking back on their mutual history, it’s safe to say Trump and Haberman have different opinions.

For example, in 2018, Haberman reported on Trump’s advisors and their ties to Russia, which gave her a Pulitzer Prize. She also wrote the 2022 biography Confidence Man: The Making of Donald Trump and the Breaking of America.

Per People, reports suggest that Haberman, alongside a NYT colleague, is working on a new book about Donald Trump. The latest story by Haberman about Trump, published on March 5, covered the firing of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem.
