My husband claimed he was on a three-day business trip to Singapore, but his location

Nina’s words were the confirmation I needed. My mind, ever analytical and precise, began formulating a plan. I was not going to confront Rodel directly—not yet. Emotions can be powerful, but information, especially in the hands of someone who knows how to use it, can be devastatingly effective.

That evening, I immersed myself in our finances. As a senior accountant, I had a deep understanding of our assets, accounts, and investments. I knew every corner of our financial empire, and Rodel’s betrayal had lit a fire in me. I was determined to dismantle the life we built together, brick by lying brick.

First, I meticulously went through our joint accounts. I transferred half of the liquid assets into an account solely under my name. It was within my rights as his wife, and it was a precautionary measure that would ensure Althea and I were secure. Next, I reviewed the ownership documents of our properties. Our home, the apartment we rented out, and a piece of land we had bought for investment—all were jointly owned. I drafted a legal document, transferring the power of attorney to myself. The next morning, I quietly visited our lawyer, securing everything without alerting Rodel.

Simultaneously, I delved into his construction business. As the accountant, I was aware of its intricate workings. Over the years, I had advised him financially, ensuring the company grew. Now, I used that knowledge to my advantage. I began unraveling the financial threads, identifying areas where I could exert control. I quietly restructured the business’s finances, ensuring that I had the upper hand.

While I orchestrated this financial coup, I maintained an outward appearance of normalcy. I continued to prepare Althea for school, attended meetings, and even spoke to Rodel on the phone, where he maintained his Singapore charade. Each conversation was a painful reminder of his deception, but it only fueled my resolve.

By the end of the week, I had everything in place. Our family’s financial fortress was now under my sole command. I was ready to confront Rodel, armed with the power of knowledge and control.

On Sunday, as Althea played at a friend’s house, I asked Rodel to meet me at a café we used to frequent. He arrived, visibly tired, perhaps from spinning lies and living a double life. I invited him to sit, and as he did, I slid the folder across the table. Inside were the documents, screenshots, and evidence of his deceit.

He looked confused at first, and then realization dawned. He opened his mouth, perhaps to lie further, but I held up a hand. “There’s no need,” I said calmly. “You see, Rodel, I’ve had a busy week while you were supposed to be in Singapore. I’ve secured our daughter’s future, and mine. So, here’s how this will go. You will face the consequences of your actions, but Althea and I will be just fine.”

His face fell as the gravity of the situation sank in. He knew he had lost everything he thought he controlled. As I left the café, a sense of liberation washed over me. My carefully constructed strategy had brought down his empire, but for Althea and me, it was the foundation for a new beginning.
