WATCH: DOJ Announces Hundreds of Charges in $14.6 Billion Bust of the Largest Medicaid Fraud Bust in History

Trump’s Department of Justice achieved a historic milestone with an operation that resulted in the apprehension of over 300 medical professionals on fraud charges, which the DOJ indicated had led to a loss of $14.6 billion in taxpayer funds. Attorney General Pam Bondi remarked that the operation was ‘record-setting,’ surpassing the previous record of $6 billion by more than double.

For context, during a press conference and a subsequent press release on June 30, 2025, the Department of Justice revealed the success of the National Health Care Fraud Takedown, a coordinated initiative that involved both federal and state law enforcement agencies targeting medical professionals who exploited their positions to commit fraud.

In remarks to the media, Matthew R. Galeotti, the Head of the Justice Department’s Criminal Division, elaborated on the operation, stating, ‘The DOJ has criminally charged 324 defendants, including 96 doctors, nurse practitioners, pharmacists, and other licensed medical professionals, across 50 federal districts and 12 State Attorneys General’s Offices throughout the United States, for their alleged involvement in various health care fraud schemes that resulted in an intended loss exceeding $14.6 billion.’

Additionally, the Department of Justice shared further details regarding the investigation and arrests in a press release dated June 30, 2025, characterizing the operation as ‘an unprecedented effort to combat health care fraud schemes that take advantage of patients and taxpayers.’ In a statement accompanying the press release, Attorney General Pam Bondi emphasized, ‘Make no mistake – this administration will not tolerate criminals who enrich themselves with taxpayer dollars while jeopardizing the health and safety of our communities.’
