
A 9-year-old girl has died after a tree fell on top of her during a thunderstorm in Green Bay, Wisconsin, according to reports
Rose Elizabeth Hendricks had just returned from a grocery shopping trip with her mom and brother when part of a neighbor’s tree fell on her at around 3:30 p.m. local time on Monday, June 23
She was taken to the hospital but died from her injuries the following day
A little girl has died after a tree reportedly fell on top of her during a thunderstorm in Green Bay, Wisconsin.
According to Fox11 News and local media outlet WBAY.com, the tree fell on 9-year-old Rose Elizabeth Hendricks at around 3:30 p.m. local time on Monday, June 23.
She was taken to the hospital and treated for traumatic injuries, however, she died on Tuesday, per WBAY.com.
Lieutenant Shauna Walesh from the Green Bay Metro Fire Department told PEOPLE that they responded to a report of a “tree that had fallen on person” shortly after 3:30 p.m. on Monday on Blithe Street.
“While crews were en route, dispatch reported that the person was unresponsive. Med 6 (ambulance) was the first unit to arrive on the scene at 3:37 PM. The individual involved was transported to a local hospital,” Walesh added in a statement.
PEOPLE has contacted the Green Bay Police Department for comment.
Speaking to local media outlet NBC26, the child’s mother, Jayme Denamur, revealed that she had turned back from a grocery store trip with her daughter and son due to the thunderstorm when the tragedy occurred.
