A little community in the east of Victoria was shook by an earthquake with a magnitude of 3.1.
Shortly after 5.20 a.m. on Wednesday, residents in the vicinity of Woods Point, which is approximately 178 kilometres east of Melbourne, reported experiencing vibrations.
The shake was picked up by seismic activity detectors at a depth of one kilometre.
Early risers and light sleepers swiftly reported the earthquake on social media.
“Literally woke up from a dream about an earthquake. I feel vindicated,” one said.
After hearing a tremendous noise, another person believed that something had struck their house.
“That was such a sudden jolt I was legit confused if something hit the building or not,” they wrote.
The earthquake was felt as far south as Carrum Downs and as far west as Sunbury in Melbourne.
Earthquakes with a magnitude of 3.1 are regarded as mild and unlikely to result in damage.
There have been no reports of injuries.
